MONTREAL -- Holding the third overall draft pick made things relatively simple for Marc Bergevin a year ago at his first NHL draft as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. This time may be trickier, as Bergevin and his staff go into Sundays draft holding the 25th overall pick. However, having six picks in the first three rounds could make it interesting. "Last year we only had two picks before ours and we had a good idea of what we were going to do," said Bergevin, who selected forward Alex Galchenyuk. "This year, its completely different." And this time there is unexpected extra pressure on Bergevin in the form of centre Vincent Lecavalier. Montreal fans are pushing hard for the Canadiens to sign Lecavalier, who entered the unrestricted free agent market on Thursday when the Tampa Bay Lightning announced they were buying out 33-year-olds hefty contract. The Canadiens have not had a French-Canadian star in many years, and Lecavalier would fit that bill. They also want to get bigger up front, and Lecavalier is six-foot-four. And, with 20 players signed and $9 million in salary cap space open, they should be able to afford him. Even Mathieu Darche, a former Canadien and Lightning, urged Bergevin on his blog for RDS to sign the slick centre who scored 52 goals in 2006-07. The temptation to make a play for his former teammate in Tampa would have to be enormous, even if it seems to go against Bergevins philosophy. Only a week ago, Bergevin said he was leery of using free agency for anything but acquiring role players to fill gaps in the roster, as he did last summer with Brandon Prust and Colby Armstrong. "To me, free agency is a tool, but its not a way to make your team a top team," he said. "Its overplayed. You have to be really careful with free agency." He does not rule out making a deal to move up in the draft, however. The Canadiens have three second round picks, including the 34th and 36th overall from previous deals, as well as their own 55th pick. They also draft 71st and 86th overall in the third round. "I can say were always looking to improve our position, but theres a price to pay," he said. "You dont build a team through free agency or trades, you build it through the draft. And you need to be patient with these guys. Look at the teams that have success, like Chicago. The core of their players, most of them came through the draft. And it took years for them to become the elite team they are now. Its not a secret recipe, how to build a hockey team." He gave no indication on what sort of players he and scouting director Trevor Timmins are looking for. After his smaller-than-average team was eliminated in the first round of playoffs by Ottawa, he said he would like more "balance" between big and small players. So they may look for some bigger bodies. The organization is also thin on goalies, having not drafted one since they took Petteri Simla 211th overall in 2009. They have selected only two since they got Carey Price fifth overall in 2005. So they may be tempted by Halifax Mooseheads goalie Zach Fucale. There are a handful of other prospects from Quebec who may be available if that is a consideration, including defenceman Samuel Morin and forwards Laurent Dauphin, Anthony Mantha and perhaps Frederik Gauthier. The flashy Jonathan Drouin, expected to go in the top five, is likely out of their reach. Bergevin said it would take more than offering a first and second round pick to move up that high. "Its not just to draft the players available, but to draft the players you like," he said. "If you can move up and get that player, and it comes at a price you feel is not too steep, then I will do that." What he has to offer is other draft picks. "Especially in the early second (round)," he said. "The 34th and 36th. Those are really good picks. Theyre appealing picks." Montreal has its best collection of picks since it had five in the top 73 in 2007. That year, they got Ryan McDonagh (now a New York Ranger) 12th, Max Pacioretty 22nd, Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban 43rd and defenceman Yannick Weber 73rd. Their off-season moves so far include buying out rearguard Tomas Kaberle and signing depth defenceman Davis Drewiske to a new deal. Cheap NBA Hoodies . Cheap NBA Jerseys Wholesale . -- Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated, a day after he was suspended for an NFL substance-abuse policy violation. GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The toughest test yet of the season looms on Sunday for the Green Bay Packers league-best run defense. No team has moved the ball better on the ground than the Dallas Cowboys so far this season.Mike Daniels and the Packers defensive front against a Cowboys offensive line that paves openings for rookie tailback Ezekiel Elliott .Strength against strength. The Packers hold opponents to 42.8 yards rushing per game. The Cowboys rush for 155.2 yards per game. Its the starting point each and every week for both football teams, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. So itll be an excellent matchup.Elliott is only the third rookie in NFL history, after Eric Dickerson and Mike Anderson, to run for at least 130 yards in three straight games. Mobile quarterback Dak Prescott has three rushing touchdowns. This is a good week for the Packers defensive front to be reinforced.Lineman Mike Pennel is eligible to rejoin the active roster this weekend after being suspended the first four games by the NFL for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Pennel was a key backup last season, especially effective against the run.His impending return would mean that Green Bay would have its full complement of linemen again. Tackle Letroy Guion rejoined the starting lineup last week alongside Daniels after missing a game with a knee injury.Kenny Clark, the teams first-round draft pick, has also played well for a rookie. Hybrid linebacker-lineman Datone Jones has helped fill the void up front. Now Jones may be able to focus more on pass-rushing duties. Either way, Green Bays deep group of outside linebackers, led by Clay Matthews and Nick Perry, has extended the wall against the run to the edges. Were all on the same page. Were clicking, Perry said after practice Wednesday. This is our opportunity to be the best ... to be aggressive and to compete on all downs.Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has taken notice. The Packers, he said, play well against the run regardless of whether Green Bay is in its base 3-4 defense, or if a fifth defensive back is on the field in what would normally be passing situations.Garrett also likes how his ooffense has improved running the ball no matter the defense.ddddddddddddThere are certainly a lot of areas where we have to get better, Garrett said, but were doing a good job coming off the ball, getting into blocks and finding places for runners to run. The runners are running well.Ellliott, a 6-foot, 225-pound rookie, will certainly be tough to bring down. But keep in mind that the Packers have already held Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to 19 yards on 12 carries in Week 2 before Peterson got hurt. But facing a mobile quarterback such as Prescott presents the Packers with a new challenge this season. McCarthy said handling the Cowboys play-action game will be important.Obviously theyre stacked in their numbers in the run game. So maybe well have to throw it a little bit more, Prescott said in a conference call. But thats a great defense that theyve got over there. Were excited for the challenge.QUOTABLEYou catch the ball, you throw it a little more accurately and, you know, dont throw it away as much. Maybe I should start taking some more sacks. No, you know what, Ive got to be more accurate and I will. Weve got to make the most of the opportunities on 50-50 balls and the balls we should catch and complete. -- QB Aaron Rodgers, when asked about his uncharacteristically-low 56.1 percent completion rate through four games, which is 31st in the NFL.INJURY REPORTWR Randall Cobb was limited in practice with a neck injury after taking a hard hit late in last weeks 23-16 win over the Giants. ... RB Eddie Lacy (left ankle) and CB Damarious Randall (groin) were also limited. ... Backup RB James Starks was held out with a knee injury. The Packers have no running backs on the active roster after Lacy and Starks, though they have used Cobb and fellow receiver Ty Montgomery in the backfield at times.---AP Sports Writer Schuyler Dixon in Dallas contributed to this story.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Genaro Armas at: https://twitter.com/GArmasAP Jerseys NFL China Cheap Adidas NHL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys From China Cheap MLB Jerseys Wholesale China Jerseys NFL Jerseys China Discount Soccer Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys China China NCAA Jerseys Cheap Cheap Nike Dolphins Jerseys Cheap Nike Patriots Jerseys Cheap Nike Jets Jerseys Cheap Nike Bengals Jerseys Cheap Nike Browns Jerseys Cheap Nike Steelers Jerseys Cheap Nike Texans Jerseys Cheap Nike Colts Jerseys Cheap Nike Jaguars Jerseys Cheap Nike Titans Jerseys Cheap Nike Broncos Jerseys ' ' '
