Ted Thompson was a master of the long game Womens Marcedes Lewis Jersey , always with an eye on the future. With the window closing on the Aaron Rodgers era, Brian Gutekunst must adjust and maximize that window right now."With the Eagles sitting on the biggest goldmine in the sport, a franchise quarterback on a rookie contract, GM Howie Roseman bet the farm twice. The first was the original bet on Carson Wentz, giving up multiple first-round picks to get the FCS prospect. But once Roseman realized Wentz had the goods, the plan was simple: aggressively spend to surround him with talent to maximize the window with Wentz still on that good-as-gold rookie deal.Without that tact and that cap flexibility, the Eagles couldn’t afford to pay Nick Foles, wouldn’t have taken a one-year flier on Alshon Jeffrey, and wouldn’t have traded for Jay Ajayi. Philly’s cap hell starts already this offseason, as the team is set to become more than $16 million over the salary cap heading into the 2019 year. This methodology works. Just ask the Rams and Bears, who borrowed the formula to make massive improvements to their teams with quarterbacks on rookie deals, setting the course for successful 2018 seasons. The Rams could make it 2/2 for this methodology with Super Bowl titles and these lessons can be applied to the Packers in 2019 even if the circumstances aren’t identical. One word of caution before advancing, however. The list of 7-9 teams is strewn with offseason winners, Dream Teams, and press conference champions. Winning the offseason doesn’t guarantee winning anything in the regular season. The Bears arguably won last offseason and couldn’t even bother to win a playoff game (**doink** **doink**). But the career trajectory of Aaron Rodgers compressed the team’s timeline much in the same way rookie contracts for Jared Goff, Mitch Trubisky, and Wentz do for their teams. It’s not that Green Bay has a financial window of opportunity — they don’t. Quite the opposite. Rodgers will likely only be Aaron Freaking Rodgers for a few more years, if that window hasn’t already passed. That leaves the Packers wondering about what’s next, but also yearning to maximize the time it has with Rodgers still in his theoretical prime. This offseason, with its projected free agents and draft class Womens Geronimo Allison Jersey , sets up ideally for the Packers to push its chips into the middle for 2019 and 2020. There are quality guards worth pursuing, edge rushers worth signing and drafting, as well as impact back-end defenders worth adding. Ted Thompson and Russ Ball masterfully manipulated the cap so the team was always fresh with young talent and in a financially flexible position, but never took the opportunity to truly capitalize on either. At least not since the pre-Super Bowl days. Green Bay can not only maximize its own roster now, but can do it without crippling the future of this team in a late-stage Rodgers phase, or beyond. Based on the latest cap projections, the Packers will have around $40.5 million in available cap space assuming they do nothing with the players currently under contract. In terms of signing their own free agents, the priority for major-money allocation is Bashaud Breeland who, being another year older after an injury-plagued season, likely can’t command the $8 million per year he’d originally received from the Panthers last offseason. Something closer to three years, $20 million could still make sense given his age and talent. A second-round tender for Geronimo Allison would be another $3.1 million and there aren’t really any other important players to worry about allocating resource toward this offseason. That leaves Brian Gutekunst and Russ Ball around $30 million to go add pieces. If the team designates Nick Perry for a post-June 1 cut and Jimmy Graham is cut outright, they could save a little over $5 million immediately and nearly $11 million more as of June 2, giving the Packers quite the war chest to aggressively add players. Remember, the post-June 1 designation doesn’t clear the cap space right away. It stays as a cap hold until June. But that $11 million should be enough to cover the team’s draft class, so they can spend close to their cap before that point.Starting with the biggest need, let’s say the Packers can lure one of Roger Saffold, Mike Iupati, James Carpenter, Andy Levitre, Ramon Foster Jaire Alexander Jersey White , Ben Garland or Quinton Spain to town to fill the right guard spot. If that seems like a lot of names, it is, which should not only give the Packers plenty of options, but also depress the value of the position overall. The more guards available, the less each individual can demand to be paid. The Packers can probably get someone in that $6 million range for 2019 who can come in right away and solidify that spot. None of those players likely would command the kind of major-money allocation we’ve seen for guards in free agency lately, like that Andrew Norwell $13 million range. They can find a significant upgrade for $6 to $7 million and they should seek to make that addition. What about the ultra-soft safety market? Quality starters like Eric Reid, Kenny Vaccaro and Tre Boston struggled to find homes last offseason, having to settle for meager money and late contract offers. With Earl Thomas a near-lock to leave Seattle and Landon Collins’ future in New York unclear after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, the Packers could allocate significant financial resources to the position. Even if neither can likely command top-of-market safety money, the Packers would still likely have to spend $12 million to make the contract appealing. LeMarcus Joyner made $11.3 million on the franchise tag last season, making that the likely starting point for players of their caliber. Joyner too could be an option if the Rams can’t find the room to pay him. Such a contract would only leave the Packers with a similar amount remaining, in that $12 million range. For an edge rusher in the modern market, that’s not a ton of money but it’s certainly not nothing. Here’s where a player like Anthony Barr becomes particularly appealing. That $12 million number would be top-of-market off-ball linebacker money, but in Green Bay he’d be a pass rusher. His current teammate Danielle Hunter, just signed a deal for $14 million APY and Barr can’t realistically insist he’s more valuable than a younger, more proven pass rusher. That said, there will be myriad teams with massive amounts of cap space this spring, which will likely drive up prices for premium position players. Given the kind of pedigree Barr had as a pass rusher coming out of UCLA and his proven versatility off the ball, he should have a considerable market. This is where the cuts come into play. Even simply cutting Graham would give the Packers wiggle room to pay Barr, even overpay if necessary Womens Montravius Adams Jersey , while still keeping some room for emergency signings with injuries. Moving on from both him and Nick Perry, likely the prudent financial decision, would give them more than enough flexibility to make a huge splash in free agency, solidify need positions, and still not cap strap the team even if Perry’s money isn’t available until June.Though signing these big names would require longer-term deals, somewhere in the four-year range, the cap has been consistently climbing and the hit for some of the Packers current big deals will become smaller and smaller portions of the cap, easing the future burdens on cap flexibility. In either case, the players the Packers can sign this offseason, coupled with the serious draft capital they can spend, could give Green Bay the core it needs to compete for Super Bowl for the remainder of Rodgers’ prime even if it means locking that core in now. To not waste having the best quarterback on the planet, that’s a swing worth taking. If it worked for Nick Foles, Jared Goff, and Mitch Trubisky, imagine how it could work with Aaron Rodgers.NFC North Roundup: Vikings’ defense gets stronger heading into final week of preseason After a less-than-thrilling 13-6 loss to the Oakland Raiders in preseason game number three, the Green Bay Packers (2-1) will head into a final week exhibition clash with the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. Which ESPN analyst had the better mock for the Lions?"What’s better than a mock draft? Two mock drafts Cheap Austin Bryant Jersey , of course. On Wednesday, ESPN dropped their dueling mock drafts, in which draft experts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay each did a two-round mock for all 32 teams. Both went in very different directions for the Detroit Lions, which makes sense considering just how many choices the Lions are likely to have on draft weekend. Here’s a look at each of their hauls:Mel Kiper’s Lions mock:Round 1: DE Montez Sweat — MississippiRound 2: CB Justin Layne — Michigan StateDespite the current trend of the Lions going a little more offensive-heavy in more recent mock drafts, Kiper goes the other route, targeting defense with both of Detroit’s first two picks. Montez Sweat has been a very popular choice for the Lions ever since the defensive end destroyed the NFL Combine. While Detroit’s need for an edge player is not as pressing after adding Trey Flowers in free agency, Sweat has the kind of positional versatility to play all over Detroit’s complicated defensive front. He would make an already strong defensive line even stronger. In the second round, Kiper fixes Detroit’s long-term issue at outside cornerback with local prospect Justin Layne. In our own mock draft from February Austin Bryant Jersey Womens , Alex Reno took Layne in the third round, saying of the Spartan, “He’s the physical type that loves to get his hands on you and disrupts routes early.”That’s exactly the kind of corner that Matt Patricia prefers, and it’s easy to see Layne making an immediate impact for the Lions, even in his rookie year. However, Kiper’s mock fails to address some of the Lions’ more pressing needs at the moment. Detroit doesn’t fix their gaping hole at right guard with Kiper’s first two selections, and Detroit’s shaky depth at tight end also goes unaddressed. Todd McShay’s Lions mock:Round 1: TE T.J. Hockenson — IowaRound 2: DE Jaylon Ferguson — Louisiana TechMcShay addresses one of those big needs with the ever-unpopular first-round pick of tight end T.J. Hockenson. Lions fans are weary to pull the trigger on a top-10 tight end after the Eric Ebron fiasco, but Hockenson presents a nice balance of both receiving threat and blocking skills. However Austin Bryant Detroit Lions Jersey , you could argue that Hockenson isn’t elite at either talent. In the second round, McShay addresses what he seems to believe is still a pressing need for the Lions.“The Lions didn’t get an edge rusher in Round 1, so I’ll give them this highly productive defensive end -- he had 45 sacks in his career -- to chase quarterbacks,” McShay wrote to justify his pick.Personally, I don’t like this pick at all. Ferguson was an early favorite of mine, but after getting his shot to play with the big boys at the Senior Bowl, I was left a little uninspired. Ferguson in the second round seems a bit too high for a risky, small-school prospect Austin Bryant Jersey 2019 , and it doesn’t even address one of Detroit’s bigger needs. Instead, I would’ve liked to see McShay seek out an offensive lineman, cornerback or even a wide receiver. Michigan corner David Long, Ohio State receiver Parris Campbell or Layne were all available in McShay’s mock and would have been more valuable picks.Who won?To me, this isn’t particularly close. I like Kiper’s mock a lot better. I am far from against grabbing a tight end in the first round, but McShay’s mock just seems like bad value all around. Detroit gets a tight end that may struggle in his first year in Hockenson, then drafts Ferguson, who will probably be a low-rotation guy in his first year. For a team that is making moves to get better immediately Austin Bryant Jersey Mens , McShay’s approach looks extremely misguided.Compare that with Kiper, who gets Detroit an immediate contributor on the defensive line in Sweat, then follows it up with Layne, who could very well start opposite Darius Slay in Week 1. That’s the kind of draft a defensive coach like Matt Patricia would dream of. Obviously, it leaves the Lions a little weaker on the offensive side of the ball, but you can’t fix everything with two draft picks. Ideally, the Lions would pick up a contributor in the third round of Kiper’s mock, and Detroit would actually come out with a pretty impressive haul. The draft hasn’t started yet Womens Teez Tabor Jersey , but we know one player who will be taking part in the Lions’ rookie minicamp later this year.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Air Force player Ryan Watson recently worked out for the team and accepted an invitation to attend camp in May. Watson played linebacker in college, but is listed as a defensive end so he’s apparently switching positions in his bid for an NFL career.Watson finished school in 2016 and had a workout with the Cardinals that might have resulted in a contract if not for his two-year active duty commitment. That commitment ended this week and Watson also worked out for the Falcons.Watson had 97 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 20 tackles for loss in 38 college games. Saints tight end Garrett Griffin is the only Air Force alum currently on an NFL roster as guard Ben Garland remains a free agent after playing for Atlanta the last four years.

While Zac Taylor was at Ohio State and others were at Notre Dame, members of Taylor’s coaching staff made the trip to Boston College to check out one of their best prospects, per Tony Pauline of draftanalyst.com.In a deep safety class, Harris is probably not going to be selected with a premium draft pick. The three-year starting strong safety was voted as a team captain in his senior year in 2018, but his most productive season came in 2017 when he tallied 45 solo tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one interception, two passes defended and four fumble recoveries. A terrific NFL combine performance following a solid Senior Bowl showing should see Harris go off the boards in the middle rounds, which is the highest the Bengals should take a safety. Boston College has a few other prospects that should get drafted before Harris. Defensive lineman Zach Allen looks like a scheme versatile 5-technique defensive end with excellent length, speed and a motor that’s unmatched. His production isn’t too shabby either. Allen and guard Chris Lindstrom, who put together a fantastic Senior Bowl alongside Allen, figure to hear their names called sometime early in the second round.Harris isn’t the only defensive back the Bengals could’ve been focusing on. Fellow safety Lukas Denis and cornerback Hamp Cheevers will both enter the NFL with great productionbut lackluster athleticism, making them likely late-round prospects. Running back A.J. Dillon, who ran for nearly 2,700 yards in just two seasons, also fits that projection, that is if he does end up getting drafted. Two Cincy Jungle contributors recently got together to give their thoughts on how the NFL Draft could play out for the Cincinnati Bengals."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections #BITESIZEFilm RoomRoster Transactions and ContractsOrange & Black InsiderSalary Cap And CBANFL DraftAnalysisVideos2 scenarios for a 5-round Bengals mock draftNew,67commentsTwo Cincy Jungle contributors recently got together to give their thoughts on how the NFL Draft could play out for the Cincinnati Bengals. EDTShareTweetShareShare2 scenarios for a 5-round Bengals mock draftWe’re less than a week away from the kickoff of the NFL Draft and no one is fully certain as to what the Cincinnati Bengals are thinking with their early picks. While we’ve reported on other mock drafts concerning the team, we have held off on bringing you our own. Well, on this week’s Orange and Black Insider, John Sheeran and I unveiled our 5-round mocks for the Bengals. We used a formula, of sorts, to come to our conclusions Anthony Munoz Jersey , but both classes should theoretically improve the club right away. There are some surprises, but here’s how we came to our respective conclusions:Things we think we know about the Bengals going into the NFL DraftThe Bengals probably think that they have the offensive line mostly figured out for 2019. In re-signing Bobby Hart, Alex Redmond and Trey Hopkins, while also bringing in John Miller to start at right guard, the team may not be overly-eager to reach for an offensive lineman early. Speaking of the line and offseason transactions, the interior line is very crowded. Aside from Miller, Redmond and Hopkins being back in the fold, the team still has Christian Westerman, Billy Price and Clint Boling as interior options. Some of those players can be upgraded, but again, the Bengals probably feel that they’ve limited the desperation for the positions going into next week. John Sheeran and I believe that the Bengals will either take a quarterback with pick No. 11, or they will go with a day 3 developmental guy. As we all know, this is a polarizing class of quarterbacks and Zac Taylor may want to ride with Andy Dalton in his new system for at least the short-term. Cincinnati needs some depth and contingency plans at running back and wide receiver. It’s entirely possible that character will play a big part in Zac Taylor’s first draft class. After preaching about it in his early pressers and sending Mark Walton packing after three 2019 arrests, he’ll want to make sure he brings the right guys in the building. The Bengals traditionally like grabbing players from big programs and successful conferences. The SEC, PAC-12 and BIG 12 usually headline the list—the reasons behind it range from their liking players who faced the stiffest competition, to a limited scouting department who more closely watch the more prominent programs. The confines of these mocksWhile there is always the likelihood of some of these players being gone at some of their allotted spots, odd and unpredictable things happen every year at the draft. Many become sure that certain players won’t be available, but scenarios play out that bring the seemingly impossible to fruition (see: Billings, Andrew). The mocks are a combination of what we think we know (above), what the Bengals traditionally do, what the team needs and some players we’ve kept close tabs on in recent weeks. Anthony Cosenza’s 5-round mock draftRound 1, pick No. 11: Ed Oliver, defensive tackle, HoustonSummary: There is a strong chance that Oliver is off of the board when the Bengals are on the clock, but a couple of realistic scenarios exist in which he becomes available (strong defensive line class, questions on his size, a run on quarterbacks). Cincinnati should sprint to the podium if this kid and his 53 college career tackles for loss are ripe for the picking.Round 2, pick No. 42: Mack Wilson Preston Brown Jersey , linebacker, AlabamaSummary: This position is the team’s biggest need and they could address it in the first. Opinions vary on Wilson, who has flashed All-Pro potential, but mostly in 2017—not last year. Still, he moves well and has a mean streak in him, which is what the Bengals need in the teeth of their defense. Round 3, pick No. 72: Riley Ridley, wide receiver, GeorgiaSummary: Unfounded and admittedly weak trade rumors have come and gone about both A.J. Green and John Ross this offseason, while both Tyler Boyd and Green are in contract years. Ridley ran slower than folks thought, so he’s probably dropping to the late-second/early-third round range. He isn’t as explosive as his older brother, Calvin Ridley, but Riley does everything else at a solid level. At a minimum, he’d be a great addition for Taylor’s probable frequent usage of four wide receiver sets. Round 4, pick No. 110: Chuma Edoga, offensive tackle, USCSummary: Cincinnati needs a developmental, long-term solution for both tackle spots and Edogafits the bill. His tape shows times of great run blocking and pass protection, but it’s not always put together at the same time and in the same game. He needs to learn consistency, but should be at least a good spot starter in the NFL. Round 5, pick No. 149: Bryce Love, running back, StanfordSummary: This kid is a blend of production and character, with his former college coach, David Shaw, comparing him to Jamaal Charles. His 2018 season was littered with injuries, but he was a Heisman hopeful in 2017 after racking up over 2,100 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. He’ll be a situational player in the NFL Cordy Glenn Jersey , but should be a spark plug for an offense. John Sheeran’s 5-round Bengals mock draftRound 1, pick No. 11: Devin Bush, linebacker, MichiganSummary: John went with the safest and most likely scenario for the Bengals in the first round. Bush was also the pick for Cincy Jungle in the SB Nation contributor mock draft, and the former Wolverine has the ability to be an immediate, three-down starter for a defense that needs a lot of improvement from a deplorable 2018 season. Round 2, pick No. 42: Dalton Risner, offensive tackle, Kansas StateSummary: Risner is a guy who is just a solid all-around offensive lineman. Aside from his tenacity as a blocker, he also has a little experience at other spots on the line. He may need a year to develop, but some people think he could be the second coming of Andrew Whitworth. Round 3, pick No. 72: Jachai Polite, edge, FloridaSummary: Initially, Polite was a guy who had first round hype. But, as more scouts and pundits watched further tape, it became apparent that he has work to do if he ever wants to be an NFL starter. Cincinnati could use a little more pass-rush help, given Carl Lawson coming off of a 2018 knee injury and what seems like the end of the Michael Johnson era. Round 4, pick No. 110: Terry McLaurin, wide receiver, Ohio StateSummary: The Bengals recently met with McLaurin at the local visits and workouts day, so they could pounce after being very familiar with him. He was a big-play threat with the Buckeyes, as evidenced by his 20 yards per catch average and 11 touchdowns in 2019. He also provides immediate help on special teams as a gunner. Round 5, pick No. 149: Daylon Mack, defensive lineman, Texas A&MSummary: Mack is another one of those versatile defensive linemen the Bengals have traditionally liked. Jim Turner is also very familiar with him, as his offensive line unit went up against the former Aggies defender in practice.

What were the top 5 takeaways from the weekend for the team?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Podcasts The Revenge of the Birds podcastTop 5 Takeaways from the 2019 NFL Combine for the Arizona CardinalsNew Stitched Andre Smith Jersey ,18commentsWhat were the top 5 takeaways from the weekend for the team?MSTShareTweetShareShareTop 5 Takeaways from the 2019 NFL Combine for the Arizona CardinalsThe NFL Combine is both upheld as an integral part of the offseason and scouting process, being a place to receive valuable data and information on players up close and compare them to their peers on a level playing field and gain more information on a team’s plan of action in the 2019 offseason. It’s also mocked by many as being a place where years of film go out the window when a guy in his underwear doesn’t run as fast as people thought he might, and misinformation can be rampant. For example, take a look at this gem from a few years ago...Barkley ended up on the Cardinals after all.But after he was drafted in the 4th round and the team sent a conditional 7th round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for him.How much was truth and how much was a lie, then?Clearly there was interest but not as much as many purported. With the truth and lies aside let’s jump into the biggest five takeaways from the weekend:Kyler Murray is “definitely going to happen”It was bandied about before the combine but at and after the combine the hype train for Arizona to trade Josh Rosen for Murray is at an unreal stage.Mike Sando was told by a GM that he wasn’t betting on it, that it was going to happen.Peter King was also told by multiple scouts and GM’s that Kyler was such a perfect fit and with the relationship with Kliff there was no way it didn’t happen.Multiple mock drafts by every one of the top NFL draft analysts is now putting Murray at #1 overall. What does this mean?Is Murray a Card, guaranteed? Not so fast, say some:What’s the truth and what’s the lie?The answer is probably a bit of both: Arizona might be seriously considering Kyler at #1 due to his upside, fit and relationship with Kliff. But to have it be a “done deal” and having reports of Kingsbury telling people of this personally seems sketchy at best.Whether or not they do indeed draft Murray, the NFL Combine is too soon to know for sure.2. Nick Bosa equaled or bettered his brother’s athletic testing Bosa put on a show, not blowing people away in terms of his 40, per se, but he checked just about every box that a #1 overall pick needed to check and did it with some explosive performances.Joey Bosa’s 3-cone was better than 94% of other players in his range and it’s important to note that stats don’t equal NFL Production, but rather back up the film. And he’s slightly more explosive than Joey and checked each box.In fact, he did even more then that by doing every single drill and test, unlike Josh Allen (no 40) and Quinnen Williams (no agility drills or bench press but ran almost as fast as Nick Bosa in the 40 at a much heavier weight)Nick essentially needed to prove durability and if early reports that no red flags came up are true, he showed Arizona that he deserves consideration for the #1 pick.3. Quinnen Williams’ speed at that size is a freak, but it was Brian Burns launched himself into territory for Arizona to consider him.Quinnen’s 40 time was amazing:But when Josh Allen didn’t do several drills, FSU Edge rusher Brian Burns did and goodness, he was impressive as an athlete. The smoothness and athleticism for a productive player like Burns (who was thought to be 20 lbs. lighter in college) that can put on weight at 249 lbs, still run in the 4.5’s and look this smooth means that he’ll potentially launch himself into the top 5 after this weekend.Meaning that he’ll likely bear consideration for the Cardinals.Bosa still is likely the #1 player but don’t rule out Burns’ rising or if Arizona does end up moving back.4. The Tight Ends, D.K. Metcalf debate and other receivers impressedIs D.K. Metcalf overrated? He put up insane stats in every category except for the change of direction drills:The nickname “Pac-Man” might be fitting Youth Andre Smith Jersey , no?He was the story of the combine tying a record for the wide receiver bench press, a crazy vertical jump and then running a 4.33 40 yard dash...at 228 lbs. Many have noted that Tom Brady had better change of direction drills than Metcalf (his pro day might see him re-time this) but he was the biggest story of a lot of quality wide receivers.Local ASU product N’Keal Harry matched Metcalf in the bench press and at his weight had a solid 40 time as well as Metcalf’s teammate, A.J. Brown.Andy Isabella (who has a Cardinals connection) ran a blazing 4.31 40 and the tight ends might have been even better.Iowa’s T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant showcased first-round athleticism to go along with their crazy film to show off as fantastic receiving options and blockers at the position, and the tight end class in general also looks deep. The Arizona Cardinals have big needs on the offensive line, but wide receiver and tight ends are aplenty, and they have needs there too.Expect the Cardinals to likely pick up one or more of these positions before Day 2 of the NFL Draft is done.5. The Defensive backs and Running Backs were just okay this yearOnly one running back, Alabama’s Josh Jacobs, ran in the 4.4’s and players like Elijah Holyfield put up a combine dud.The DB’s outside of Greedy Williams had some fast times but overall it’s not the strongest class, at least not like 2018 that had multiple first round defensive backs. The fact that Arizona with David Johnson, Chase Edmonds with Patrick Peterson, Robert Alford, Budda Baker, DJ Swearinger and Antoine Bethea (and maybe could re-sign Tre Boston) seem set at the position is good news for Arizona. They seem set and that means that they can pursue better players, and athletes, in this year’s draft. What were YOUR biggest takeaways from the Combine?Do you think Kyler Murray is an Arizona Cardinal?Sound off in the comments below! You can follow @blakemurphy7 on Twitter. Josh Rosen appreciated the widespread positive reviews for his performance in his first NFL start last Sunday. His self-criticism, though, centered on the final score."If I could play worse and win, I'd take that every time," Rosen said. The Cardinals lost at home to Seattle 20-17 on Sebastian Janikowski's 52-yard field goal as the game ended to fall to 0-4, the first time they've done that since 1986, two years before the franchise moved to Arizona from St. Louis. But even with his team winless, the 21-year-old Rosen is full of confidence as he prepares to play on the road against San Francisco on Sunday. That's just his way Stitched Tre Boston Jersey , he said after the team practiced Wednesday."I'm a very confident person," Rosen said. "Even if I have no reason to, I'll find a way to fool myself into going out there with full confidence that we're going to win every single game we play. Every time I step on the field, I expect to throw a touchdown or hand off a touchdown or lead the team to the end zone in some way. In my head, if I don't, it's a surprise and something's wrong and we've got to fix it so that we do next time."Rosen completed 15 of 27 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions against the Seahawks. Coach Steve Wilks said the Cardinals could open up the playbook a bit for his young quarterback's next start."We're going to continue to give Josh what he can handle," Wilks said. "I think, again, he gives us the opportunity to be able to do a lot of things on the offensive side of the ball. I think you guys saw that a little bit on Sunday — just with the boots, getting outside of the pocket, all those things, his athleticism, to be able to avoid the rush a little bit and buy time to get the ball down the field."So, we want to try and make sure that we give him everything that he can handle, and most importantly, not try to restrict him at all."Rosen, who describes himself as "a happy person," was pretty much always smiling Sunday, even as he was encouraging the receivers who collectively dropped five passes."I got in the locker room, and regardless of who did what or whatever — I blew some too — and everyone was like, 'Screw it. Next week, let's roll Youth Tre Boston Jersey ,'" he said.Rosen was even quick to talk to Phil Dawson, the 43-year-old kicker who missed a 45-yard field goal that would have given the Cardinals the lead with 1:50 to go."I think that speaks a lot about his leadership," Dawson said. "Here's a rookie making his first start and he comes up to the second-oldest guy in the league and offers encouragement. I was impressed by that and I think this whole locker room benefits from that."Wilks has watched Rosen smoothly take over as starter from Sam Bradford and the rookie seems a comfortable fit from the start."His ability to not let things phase him," Wilks said. "Of course, a lot of criticism came when I threw him in the game (late against Chicago) at that particular moment, but I'm not worrying about the outside noise. I know what he can handle. I know how he's wired in the short period of time I've been around him, and he showed that going into the game last week. It just filters throughout the team, his confidence."With Rosen, it always comes back to confidence. Where did it come from?"I don't know," he said. "Growing up in youth sports, playing tennis and all that, you're by yourself out there, so you've just got to be confident. Even if you're not, you at least have to play the part and try to keep pushing until something good happens, then you start to gain it and keep going."So, I don't know. It's just kind of who I am. Not even football, but anything. I'm very confident in what I do. Even if I'm not, I'll act like I am."

The unexpectedly robust pipeline from the AAF to the NFL continues to flow.Safety Ed Reynolds will work out with the Falcons today Black Desmond Trufant Jersey , per a league source. This is just the first stop; other teams have interest in Reynolds.A fifth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2014, Reynolds has spent time with Philly and Cleveland. He last played in the NFL in 2016, and he has made the most of the second chance he secured with the Atlanta Legends of the now-defunct AAF.The resurrection of Reynolds’ career underscores the value of a spring football league to the NFL. But the NFL apparently doesn’t deem it to be valuable enough, or the NFL would have its own. The Carolina Panthers currently have their ‘deepest corps’ of receivers since drafting Cam Newton To prepare for the 2018 season Blue Jarius Wright Jersey , Cat Scratch Reader sent five questions to Football Outsiders to get a feel on what we should expect from the Panthers in 2018. Scott Kacsmar from FO was kind enough to answer our questions, and each day this week we will share one question and answer to foster discussion here at CSR.Yesterday, our question centered around what Panthers fans should expect from the Panthers’ newest playmaker—wide receiver D.J. Moore—in 2018.Today we take a broader look at the wide receivers on the depth chart. How do you think this year’s WR corps compares to Cam Newton’s previous supporting casts? For the first time in years, the Panthers have a legitimate group of wideouts surrounding Cam Newton. Fans should genuinely be excited about the wide receiver position for a change, since it’s no longer a group that consists of a No. 2 receiver masquerading as a No. 1 target surrounded by five other guys who probably wouldn’t even make another roster. With these added weapons Jarius Wright Jersey 2019 , I believe we’re going to see the best version of Newton possible in 2018. Hell, we could even see CAMVP again this season. What do you think, Panthers fans? Are you looking forward to seeing the revamped wide receiver corps? Do you think the Panthers have a solid group of six? Share your thoughts with us!Also, be sure to stay tuned for the fourth question and answer with Kacsmar tomorrow, where we’ll turn our attention to the defense! You can purchase the 2018 Football Outsider’s Almanac in PDF form for just $20 by clicking here. Your quarterback needing shoulder surgery is never good news. But for the Panthers Blue Da’Norris Searcy Jersey , Cam Newton‘s procedure yesterday seems to be the best of an array of less-desirable alternatives. The team release offered no timetable, only that their team doctor “successfully performed” an arthroscopic procedure.According to Joe Person of , two sources close to the situation described it as “relatively minor.”The Panthers tweeted out a photo of Newton after the procedure, and he was up and dressed, which suggests they didn’t do too much when they were inside his throwing arm.Coupled with the timeline Da’Norris Searcy Jersey 2019 , that’s as good a sign as possible. When he had his first surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff, he waited until March 2017. That cost him the entire offseason program and most of training camp. The Panthers shut him down for the final two games last season, after his arm strength got progressively worse and the deep passing element of their offense was gone. Now, the hope that a minimally invasive procedure will have him back to form sooner rather than later. They still need to find a better grade of backup than Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, a reality that has been acknowledged as far up the food chain as owner David Tepper.

The league continues to evolve leaning towards player safety"League meetings have been ongoing in Phoenix http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-alex-cappa-jersey , Arizona and plenty of news has been coming out. While most of us have our eyes and ears turned towards the Tampa Bay Buccaneers specifically, there are some league-wide things happening as well.Specifically, one rule change has already been approved for the 2019 season and should stick around moving forward.Player safety has been the drum pounded by the league for the last few years with some pretty substantial rules being put into place with health of the players as a focal point. This is just one more rule to add to them as the NFL attributes 33% of all concussions coming on punts where blindside blocks were involved. If this is the case, then I am in support of it. While I agree football is a physical game rooted in violent action between one man to another, it doesn’t mean we can’t tweak some things here and there to keep those men on the field. Now, points of emphasis are going to be outlined as the off-season progresses and the pre-season gets underway. It’s very likely we’ll see a noticeable increase in these types of plays being noticed just like we did last pre-season with the helmet to helmet rule changes. However, before we collectively panic about the game being ruined, let’s remember the uproar over last year’s rule changes died fairly quickly once we saw the regular season application of them. The focus on this penalty appears to be more on the trajectory of the player. As a blocker, players will be expected to run sideline to sideline versus running parallel to the sideline. This is when the penalty will come into play.At first note, it seems to me this will become something akin to a football version of charging versus blocking. If an offensive player is set - even facing parallel to the sideline - and isn’t moving with forward momentum, then perhaps it will be an acceptable play attributed more to lack of awareness by the defender rather than aggression by the blocker. We’ll have to see how it pans out, but let us know what your initial thoughts are to this first rule change of the league year. The international perception of Tampa Bay Every summer, my family and I go on a vacation. Usually, our vacation is at an all-inclusive type resort somewhere in the Caribbean. This year we decided to change it up and head overseas. The two cities we selected were London and Dublin. At this point, you are probably wondering how the heck does this relate to Buccaneers football? I’m glad you asked. During my time in these two countries, which has been about a week, my Buccaneers tattoo has caught the attention of some other tourists. On three different occasions other tourists, who weren’t from the United States Womens Jameis Winston Jersey , London, or Dublin, have started conversations amongst their group about the Buccaneers after seeing the tattoo. As you can imagine, the conversations that were started weren’t positive, and the main topic from all three situations was in fact the suspension of Jameis Winston and his “troubles.” After the third separate occasion of people talking about Jameis Winston’s off the field struggles, my father turned to me and said, “It’s really a shame that when people from around the world think about the Buccaneers, the first thing that comes to mind is Jameis Winston and his past actions.”Going off that quote from my father, I have noticed the same type of thing back in the States. The more and more people comment on the Buccaneers to me, the first thing out of their mouths is Jameis Winston and his suspension.I think that this was an interesting story because the National Football League isn’t nearly as big in these two countries as it is in the United States. Yes, the National Football League has played games at Wembley Stadium, but still, a good majority of the people who live in Europe or other parts of the world, have probably never heard of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With that being said, the ones that have, mostly have a negative view on Jameis Winston and I am at the point in my mind where I don’t know if that will ever change, no matter how many games he wins.

It may have taken the Cincinnati Bengals a while to find a defensive coordinator for new head coach Zac Taylor Vincent Rey Jersey , but the rest of the coaching staff is now rounding into form. The team announced on Thursday the hiring of Nick Eason (defensive line), Tem Lukabu (linebackers), Brad Kragthorpe (offensive assistant), and Jordan Kovacs (defensive quality control) to their coaching staff with Todd Hunt and Garrett Swanson joining the team as assistant strength and conditioning coaches. All six coaches come to the Bengals from positions in college football, though Eason and Lukabu have prior NFL coaching experience.Eason spent 2018 at Austin Peay University and had accepted a job at Vanderbilt for 2019 before joining the Bengals. He previously spent four years with the Tennessee Titans as a defensive line coach from 2014-17.Lukabu was the linebackers coach at Mississippi State last season. He has previously served as a defensive quality control coach with the San Francisco 49ers (2016-17) and defensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-13).Kragthorpe was an offensive coaching analyst at LSU last season after spending the prior two seasons at Utah State.Kovacs was a graduate assistant under Jim Harbaugh at Michigan the last two seasons. He played three seasons for the Miami Dolphins at safety (2013-15).Hunt and Swanson come to the Bengals after being with the University of Illinois. Before the draft, Cincinnati seemed to have their five starting linemen in place. Cordy Glenn at left tackle, Clint Boling at left guard, Billy Price in the center and free agent guard John Miller on Price’s right. It also seemed like Bobby Hart would be slated at the right tackle with his three-year contract in place. When the Bengals draft Williams it seemed pretty simple to just put him at right tackle to replace Hart, which still could be the case. However Anthony Munoz Jersey , the Bengals have been pretty clear they feel Williams is a left tackle; whether they mean this year or in the future is unclear.Obviously, the player that could have an impact on the most in Glenn. He doesn’t even seem confident that his spot at left tackle is safe, and thinks a move is very possible.“Nobody knows. I’m pretty sure they have a plan in place,” Glenn told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, “They’re probably going to move a couple of guys around and see a couple of different lineups and see what they really have and what the unit to put on the field is.“Some guys can play in a phone booth and some can’t. I can play in a phone booth and I can play on an island,” Glenn said. “[Last time I played inside was] almost 10 years ago. I don’t know (if it’s like riding a bike). It will be interesting though for sure.”Inserting Williams at left tackle sparks plenty of questions. Does Glenn move to guard or right tackle? Is Boling’s spot at left guard in danger as well? The possibilities become pretty endless. We could be looking at a very similar line as last year’s Preston Brown Jersey , but it could be a matter of familiar faces in different places. It is hard to make any predictions at this point, but we should see far more experimentation during training camp and OTAs with where guys are lining up. It could very well go into the preseason. The issue with that of course surrounds the potential cohesion of the unit. You could argue that it will be hard to have a group establish chemistry if they’re still being moved around in the preseason. Last season when the Bengals had roughly the same starting offensive line from the beginning of the preseason (injuries were the only time someone lost their starting job) and easily make the point it is better to find the best five rather than build chemistry with the wrong five.I think everyone can agree, though, that the Bengals need to focus on starting the best players at every position along the offensive line regardless of contract or reputation. It is a fresh start for everyone to compete and get a product on the field that is acceptable. So far, the new coaching staff has all possibilities open in front of them. We can only hope they put a good offensive line together.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had a big game on Thursday in the win over the Oakland Raiders. I realize this is not shocking news. He caught four passes for 108 yards and a touchdown Kyle Juszczyk Jersey , highlighted by this insane 71-yard catch-and-run.After the game, Kittle said, “I closed my eyes, 100-percent ... I just kind of stuck an arm out there and it fell in my hand.”Through nine games, Kittle has 41 receptions for 692 yards and three touchdowns. That puts him on pace for 72 receptions, 1,230 yards, and five touchdowns. He’s currently third among tight ends in receptions and first in yards.Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus put together their midseason All Pro team. They have been big on Kittle, and included him on the team. He currently ranks first among tight ends in yards per route run, and is eighth in pass blocking grade.Travis Kelce is likely to earn traditional media All Pro honors, in part because he’s a great tight end, but also because he is a notable name. Kittle will likely be competing with Zach Ertz for second team All Pro honors. Kittle is better than both as a run blocker, and has emerged as a dynamic pass catcher in his second year. The 49ers hit an absolute home run with their 2017 fifth round pick, and have a core piece around which to build their offense. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Kyle Shanahan’s coaching tenure hasn’t quite gotten off to the greatest start in San Francisco. He lost his first nine games with the 49ers last year before the arrival of Jimmy Garoppolo provided a late-season spark with five straight wins to close a 6-10 campaign. With Garoppolo sidelined by a season-ending knee injury in Week 3 this year, the Niners have started the season 2-10 for the second straight year under Shanahan.Shanahan is just the fifth coach to begin his tenure with a team by going 2-10 or worse in each of his first two seasons. Cleveland’s Hue Jackson (2016-17), Detroit’s Jim Schwartz (2009-10), Tampa Bay’s Leeman Bennett (1985-86) and Tampa’s John McKay (1976-77) are the others.Bennett got fired after his second season and Jackson didn’t make it through his third with the Browns. Schwartz and McKay stayed long enough to lead their teams into the playoffs, progress Shanahan hopes to be able to make with the 49ers.“I’d love it to be a lot more obvious and a lot easier,” he said. “We finished 6-10 last year and I’d love to be improving from this year. I also know it was hard work to get to 6-10, especially starting 0-9. I think we came in this year with a franchise quarterback and we lost him early in the season, which definitely makes that much harder.“I think we came here knowing that it was going to take some time. I think the way we finished last year definitely excels everyone’s feeling and what they thought. But, by no means did I think we were coming into it this year and it was just going to be easy. I knew it was going to be extremely hard.”Here’s a look inside some more interesting numbers heading into Week 13:ELITE COMPANY: Todd Gurley of the Rams finds himself in exclusive company. He has gained 1,649 yards from scrimmage and scored 19 TDs so far this season. Only six players have topped those marks in the first 12 games, including Hall of Famers LaDainian Tomlinson (2006), Emmitt Smith (1995) Womens Jerry Rice Jersey , Eric Dickerson (1983), O.J. Simpson (1975), Jim Brown (1965). Priest Holmes is the other, doing it in 2002.TOUCHDOWN TOM: Tom Brady’s next touchdown pass will move him past a couple of all-time greats. Brady is currently tied with Brett Favre for third place for the most regular-season TD passes with 508. Brady is also tied with Peyton Manning for the most ever combined in the regular season and playoffs with 579.PROLIFIC PAT: Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes is joining some special company in his first season as a starting quarterback. He joined Brady and Manning as the only players to throw at least 40 TD passes in the first 12 games of the season. Manning and Brady each won the MVP in the seasons they accomplished the feat.Mahomes also just had his seventh game of the season with at least four TD passes, a mark topped only by Manning when he had nine in the 2013 season.DOUBLE THREAT: Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is proving to be almost adept throwing TD passes as he is catching them. Beckham threw a 49-yard TD pass and caught a 1-yarder against Chicago last week, the second time this season he has caught and thrown for a TD pass in the same game. The only other time someone did that twice in a season was 1924, when Eddie Kaw and Benny Boynton did it for the Buffalo Bisons.Beckham also threw a 57-yard TD this season and has as many TD passes of at least 49 yards as Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck and Jared Goff this season.DOUBLE THREAT PART II: Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey had 55 yards receiving and 106 yards rushing last week in a loss to Tampa Bay. That marked his fifth straight game with at least 50 yards on the ground and as a receiver, the longest streak in NFL history.NO TAKEAWAYS: The 49ers have gone four straight games without generating a takeaway, one shy of the post-merger record accomplished eight times previously, including the Jets this season. San Francisco has just five takeaways through 12 games, the fewest since the merger after 12 games. The previous low was seven for Jacksonville in 2016.RARE BLOWN LEAD: Steelers fans could be forgiven for feeling pretty confident with a 23-7 halftime lead last week against the Chargers. Pittsburgh had been 174-0-1 all-time at home when leading a game by 16 points. The Steelers had lost only two road games when leading by at least 14 at halftime, blowing a 21-7 lead to Dan Marino and the Dolphins on Nov. 1, 1987, and a 20-3 lead to the St. Louis Cardinals on Oct. 13, 1963. Jackie Smith caught a 55-yard TD pass in that comeback for St. Louis. Smith would be remembered more for another play against the Steelers — a dropped TD pass for Dallas in his final career game in the Super Bowl in 1979.HIGH-SCORING LOSSES: The Raiders and Steelers became the latest teams to end up on the losing end of a game when scoring at least 30 points. In all, 20 teams have lost this season despite that high point total, one short of the post-merger record for a season set in 2013. Atlanta, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Tampa Bay all have two losses when scoring 30 or more points.TRIPLE CROWN: Oakland spent a fifth-round pick on punter Johnny Townsend, one of just 20 punters taken in the first five rounds this century. The move isn’t paying dividends as Townsend is on pace for a not-so-spectacular Triple Crown. He ranks last among all qualifying punters in gross average (43 yards), net average (37.4 yards) and percentage of punts downed inside the 20 (19.6 percent).

Once again Rashaan Evans Jersey , I look at a WR prospect for Music City Miracles, this time analyzing the giant Iowa State Cyclone."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Tennessee Titans PodcastThe Giant Hakeem Butler Is Worth A First Round PickNew,193commentsOnce again, I look at a WR prospect for Music City Miracles, this time analyzing the giant Iowa State Cyclone.CDTShareTweetShareShareThe Giant Hakeem Butler Is Worth A First Round PickReese Strickland-USA TODAY SportsThis is the third piece I’ve done on a wide receiver for Music City Miracles, after Marquise Brown and D.K. Metcalf. Iowa State receiver Hakeem Butler has gotten quite the amount of hype, and in his Junior season with he Cyclones he amassed 60 catches for 1,318 yards (22.0 yards per catch, 3rd in all of college football for 2018) and nine touchdowns. In comparing him, to Brown and Metcalf, Butler is closer to Metcalf. He’s 6’6 and 226 lb, but looks smoother as a receiver than Metcalf. A popular NFL comparison is A.J. Green, a top receiver. Butler is actually slightly taller than Green, and from the looks of it, he has similar vertical prowess. In the Titans’ quest for another receiver to match with Corey Davis and Adam Humphries, getting Hakeem Butler would give them another vertical threat that would set Tennessee up for a solid 1-2-3 combo.NCAAFButler’s technical approach as a route runner was terrific in college. While he doesn’t possess the flashiest routes, he can still create separation, which combined with his frame makes him a favorable target on deep shots. Here, the size matchup doesn’t even come close. Butler feels like a wide receiver version of Rob Gronkowski in a way because of how much of a gargantuan he is compared to the corner he’s facing. And despite his size he moves quite well here, using his left foot to push off and get one step on the corner. Butler’s quarterback targets him via a back shoulder toss, and he makes sure to drag his foot in bounds (Remember, it’s one foot in college, two in the NFL), so he has the spatial awareness down.NCAAFAgainst the same corner, Butler makes an impressive contested catch. An issue I have with Metcalf is that he can get trapped easily at times vs. corners in comparison to Butler, who uses a more technical approach here. The corner tries to get his hand onto the receiver, but Butler swipes it down, allowing him to get his arms free and win a slight advantage. That’s more than enough to make this play work.Because of Butler’s hand swat, he has the leverage against the corner Harold Landry Jersey , allowing him to make this catch look easy.Perhaps the most impressive part of Butler’s game is how difficult he is to bring down, again drawing comparisons to Rob Gronkowski. Gronk’s ability to separate and break tackles after the catch didn't come exclusively from his frame, but rather how violent he was with his hands and body. The same can be said for Butler.NCAAFNCAAFBoth of these touchdowns occurred in the same game, and as you may have guessed they’re both some of the best touchdowns I’ve seen from a college receiver in 2018. He’s able to slip by the tackle at the catch point in the first play, then stops, spins and pushes the defensive back off him, breaking into the open field. His ball security and frame does the rest for a sensational touchdown after the catch. In the second play, Butler’s tight friction allows him to win on the back shoulder pass, as he uses his aggression at the catch point to win the 50/50 shot. His impressive 4.48 40’ time at the Combine is evident here as well with his breakaway speed. If there’s one area Butler has to improve on, it’s his consistency catching the ball. He's been described as a body catcher, and that’s affected his ability to make a few catches as he’s left several on the field.NCAAFThis is a great throw from quarterback Brock Purdy under pressure. Unfortunately, Butler lets it slip through his hands. Butler’s drop concerns don’t come at an alarming rate, but it’s noticeable enough that it will decide if he can be great rather than just good.Still, all things considered I enjoy Hakeem Butler as a prospect. I think he’s a more fleshed out version of D.K. Metcalf, and though I think Marquise Brown is a superior receiver, Butler is certainly a far healthier option. Butler’s one of many selections at varying positions the Titans can consider at pick #19.Butler isn’t without his faults, but he and Corey Davis would make a great starting receiver duo, and combined with Adam Humphries and a few other role receivers, would give the Titans a boost in receiving depth they didn’t have in 2018. Julian Edelman left early for the locker room after injuring his ankle, but he did return to the sideline before the end to witness the ugliness. Not as many of the thousands of Patriots fans who made the trip to Nashville stayed that long. The Titans were the better team Sunday, dominating from start to finish.鈥淚 am sorry we disappointed some of the fans that were out here for us,” Edelman said to reporters, via WEEI. “We were heavily populated here. We have to go back to New England and get back to work.” The Patriots receiver caught nine passes for 104 yards. He said he would see how his ankle feels Monday, but the Patriots have their open date this week.鈥淣ot in a good mood, guys. I am sorry,” Edelman said. “Sorry for being an A-hole, but we got outplayed. Thank you.鈥

With Super Bowl LIII coming up on Sunday Michael Dickson Jersey , we have been wrapping up the 2018 season for the Seattle Seahawks with a review of the players the team selected in the draft last spring. Thus far we’ve already taken a stab at grading First round running back Rashaad Penny,Third round defensive end Rasheem Green,Seventh round quarterback Alex McGough, Sixth round defensive end Jacob MartinFifth round tackle Jamarco Jones, Fifth round punter Michael Dickson and Fifth round linebacker Shaquem Griffin. That leaves just two draft picks left, so today we’ll take a look at the one of those two picks who started off with a bang, but then joined fellow draft class member Jamarco Jones on injured reserve after suffering a devastating knee injury in the Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals. I know it’s hard for Seahawks fans to fathom a player with high levels of athletic ability and a physical demeanor suffering a season ending injury while playing a road game in Glendale against the Cardinals, but that is exactly what happened with fourth round tight end Will Dissly. Dissly shined in the Week 1 opener against the Denver Broncos, blocking well against a stellar defensive front seven, while also acting as a dangerous weapon in the passing game. Dissly finished the season with 156 yards on just 8 catches, but three of those catches happened to contribute 105 yards against the Broncos in Week 1. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, that contribution was not enough to overcome the altitude, and the Hawks dropped a game that was within their grasp of winning. In any case, there are obviously more questions than answers regarding Dissly’s recovery from his torn patellar tendon, and it’s just a matter of waiting until training camp to see how his knee is doing and whether he’ll be able to take the field in 2019. In the meantime all we can do is dream about what might have been and speculate about what could be when he returns. And, since it’s the offseason and we’ve got nothing better to do, we can grade the pick. As always Alex McGough Jersey , the Swerving Points column does not concern itself with the tier-one highlights of the game completed. Usually it finds the plays that shaped the game on a secondary level, because they’re important too, and it’s nice to remember that a football game is more than just the scoring plays or interceptions.Today I’ll bring up three developments and decisions from Glendale that figure to shape the rest of the Seattle Seahawks’ 2018 season. None of them are Earl Thomas’ injury. There has been much e-ink (eenk?) spilt all over this site and others about that crappy turn of events.Fine, before we dive in, you can have one Sportscentery highlight, one actual turning point. It’s Mike Davis’ second touchdown. Since we’ll be seeing more of him, again, than a lot of us figured. Partially because he is good. Now, we swerve.Interior pass rush shows up, by Jarran Reed and Poona FordSamuel Gold hooks us up again. If you’re on Twitter, you probably want to follow him.The sack is Reed’s third of the year. Needless to say, but gonna be said anyways, if an interior lineman were to produce a 12-sack season, that would be news, and would surely earn Reed some accolades and honors. The fact that it comes on the Cardinals’ first drive is a bonus because it forces adjustments. On a third down, too. But what’s equally important here is that Reed got help.“Poona Ford got a good Pro Football Focus grade. So what?”I hear your skepticism. In fact it’s quite rare for me to cite PFF grades at all, because their opaque process is questionable at best. But he was in for 17 plays and made a positive impression. It’s one thing for PFF to give Aaron Rodgers a negative grade on a 333-5-0 day. A false positive seems much less likely. If Ford was disruptive Delano Hill Jersey , it would be reflected in a good grade. If he was absent or a non-factor, not very likely. Anyway, the Seahawks are a team that desperately needs interior pass rush because the defensive ends are beat up. Ford trucking people would have a (C)heavy impact, allowing Seattle to maybe Dodge a loss or two.The Will Dissly sadnessSlightly overshadowed by the game’s other significant injury (and controversial hand gesture) was Dissly’s injury. He played all of eight healthy snaps, and on the ninth one the ghost of Jimmy Graham stole Dissly’s patella tendon, wrecking his 2018 and maybe even sending his 2019 season into doubt. The stadium that has often been called Seattle’s home away from home for excellent reasons, such as this 2013 post-game scene — — has turned into a real-life haunted house, where Seahawk seasons and careers end. Among other unfortunate events.Dissly has been a revelation. In a Brian Schottenheimer offense, the tight end is heavily featured. Now it’s up to Nick Vannett to take up the much-targeted mantle of TE 1 until Ed Dickson returns, though return is the wrong word since he’s never played a snap for Seattle.Through three games, Dissly had served as Russell Wilson’s most productive target besides Tyler Lockett, ranking second in yards and TDs with 151 and two scores. He’d also won the starting job and validated the Seahawks’ decision to use a fourth-round pick on a supposed blocking tight end.Without him, it’s not clear what production the team will get out of its TE room. It’s not even clear who the room will feature a week or two from now. For as inconvenient as Doug Baldwin’s injury and Brandon Marshall’s numerous drops have been for the offense, losing Dissly might be the biggest setback of the year so far. Which would’ve been a silly sentence to write a month ago, but NFL seasons have a way of doing their own thing. The decision to play for threeSchottenheimer and Pete Carroll teamed up with Wilson to get Seattle within striking range for a long game-winning field goal — and it worked! It also didn’t work against Atlanta or Arizona last year. It’s bad process, to play for three. The longer the kick, the worse the process. It’s baffling to me how the Seahawks coaches can watch a cautious strategy fail for them twice last year Nazair Jones Jersey , then once for their opponent in this same game, and decide to put their eggs in the kicker’s basket at the expense of their playmakers. The trend is worrisome. Carroll didn’t wake up on Sunday and decide to play it safe at the end of the game. It’s his reflex now, after seeing it in action thrice in his last 13 games. These paragraphs aren’t about how Sebastian Janikowski redeemed himself with a buzzer-beater after missing twice earlier in the afternoon. It’s really cool that he doesn’t have to be the goat. It’s really cool that he made the kick, because a) that was the first winning kick as time expired in the Russell Wilson era, and b) winning is fun. We’re talking here about how Carroll didn’t trust his best players to take the chances that would have led to a better shot at winning. Seabass made it, but it’s such bad process,What’s even worse is that not five minutes earlier, he’d just seen the Cardinals employ the same strategy and fail miserably, costing Arizona a chance to win. With a first down at the Seattle 31 and 2:59 to play with, the Cardinals called three David Johnson runs and set up for a go-ahead 45-yarder. Phil Dawson pushed it wide right.I understand that Janikowski was acquired specifically for situations where a long kick makes sense. Big leg, blah blah blah. But when you have 2nd and 1, at the opponent’s 43-yard line, with 1:06 left, you need to do better than:3-yard run up the middle6-yard pass in bounds0-yard run up the middlespikekickThe two Seahawks runs combined to remove 0.52 expected points off Seattle’s drive. They also were a clear signal that no shots would be taken at the end zone, or at the sidelines to increase the kick’s percentage.Again, it is good that the field goal was successful. I’m just afraid the positive result will prompt Carroll to trust a negative process even more. And it doesn’t appear too likely that a couple well-timed field goals will get the job done against the Los Angeles Rams this coming Sunday.

One name that is sure to come up is Morgan Burnett, who will be released by the Pittsburgh Steelers after one season, according to Adam Schefter. Burnett spent his first eight seasons with Green Bay as a secondary utility man, playing everything from corner to inside linebacker. However, he’s best suited for the strong safety spot. Burnett’s not a ball hawk, with nine career interceptions and only two in the last four seasons Womens Geronimo Allison Jersey , but he is a sure tackler and excellent in run support. He started only two games and played in just 11 total for the Steelers as part of an injury-plagued season, and expressed his discontent over playing a hybrid safety-linebacker role. He eventually lost his starting spot to rookie Terrell Edmunds. While Burnett was one of the better Packer defensive players during his tenure, I hope they seek help elsewhere. His skillset can certainly be useful in the right scheme, but if he’s unwilling to move down into a linebacker spot occasionally, that seriously constricts his value. This is especially true given the fact that coverage was never his strong suit, and as he ages Jaire Alexander Jersey White , it will only get worse. Burnett should be focusing on what he does best in the latter half of his career, and that’s going downhill. It is also troubling that Burnett’s injury issues last season stemmed from his back, and back issues linger forever. Today, we examine the tight ends. After a strong 2017, even with a plethora of injuries, the Packers seemed to feel confident with the offensive line going into 2018. However, the 2018 season ended up with some mixed reviews. Let’s give a quick overall recap before getting into the individual notes.David Bakhtiari has taken over the mantle from the recently retired Joe Thomas as the best pass blocker in the NFL and we saw a significant improvement from center Corey Linsley, as well. Lane Taylor and Bryan Bulaga played through various injuries for a good chunk of the season as they held down their respective positions. We also saw the team find a couple of competent backups that could make some waves while looking for a starting position in the future. The Packers moved on from right guard Jahri Evans in hopes that Justin McCray would take a hold of the position. His play wasn’t anything special and he struggled with injuries. McCray could not get the position back after he was healthy and the Packers turned to the left side too well. That doesn’t seem to be a big deal though as Bakhtiari doesn’t look to let go of the left tackle spot anytime soon. While Spriggs still didn’t look like as good as the starters when he played http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , he has adapted to the NFL over the past few seasons and has shown some promise to possibly taking over at the right tackle spot whenever the Packers move on from Bryan Bulaga. Hopefully, he continues to make progress under new offensive line coach Adam Stenavich otherwise he’ll be destined for a swing tackle role if he sticks around after his contract expires next season.Lucas Patrick, GuardLucas Patrick seems to be progressing similarly to Jason Spriggs. He started slow in his first couple seasons and now has developed into the top reserve for the interior of the offensive line. While he played well in his limited starts, you can see that he needs to improve his footwork and pass blocking to get a permanent starting spot. Patrick started two games at right guard and two games at left guard throughout the season. He has a similar style to Lane Taylor where he is a better run blocker but, being inside, he can have some cracks in his pass protection as he will get help from the center depending on the call. His versatility in the interior makes him valuable and follows a similar path as past reserves who stepped into a starting position. Justin McCray, GuardJustin McCray had a tough 2018. McCray looked to be the next young player to step up and take hold of an open position but injuries got in his way. He started the season at right guard but was replaced by Pankey Kevin King Jersey , Nico Siragusa, Cole MadisonThese five got little to no playing time in 2018. Alex Light and Adam Pankey got a few snaps here and there but nothing significant. The bright spot is the Packers seemed high on those two at the end of the year and will bring good competition for the reserve positions. Gerhard de Beer, who easily wins the best name on the team award, and Nico Siragusa were signed late in the year and will look to make some noise in OTAs and training camp. Cole Madison never reported to the team due to personal issues. Hopefully, he gets those issues taken care of and can show people why the Packers took him in the fourth round last year.OVERALL GRADE: B-minusThe Packers offensive line has some mixed results throughout the 2018 season but they were definitely not a black eye for the offense. They did struggle giving up 53 sacks this years, but they also did have Aaron Rodgers holding onto the ball longer than usual and they also threw the ball the third most times in the league. Even with the fewest rushing attempts in the league, they paved the way for the running backs to average five yards per attempt Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey White , the second highest yards per attempt in the league. Sure a lot of that might be due to Aaron Jones breaking some huge gains but he’s not getting all those yards without someone opening holes for him. While the right guard position was the weak point, the rest of the starters stayed healthy most of the year and we saw Jason Spriggs and Lucas Patrick prove to be quality backups. The future remains fairly solid for new offensive line coach Adam Stenavich. He will have to find a replacement at right guard but the rest should be around in 2019. One thing is for sure: another year of the majority of the offensive line returning means a strong cohesion going forward.

GREEN BAY Eli Harold Jersey White , Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers will be without at least one of their starting receivers Sunday at Detroit.Randall Cobb has been ruled out, a hamstring injury sidelining him for the second consecutive week.Davante Adams, who injured a calf at Wednesday’s practice, will practice Saturday, coach Mike McCarthy said, and is listed as questionable. Also questionable is Geronimo Allison, who suffered a concussion during last week’s victory over Buffalo and has not practiced this week. The Lions have ruled out defensive end Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-frank-ragnow-jersey , guard T.J. Injuries are a part of the game. You have to be able to play through injuries in games, play through injuries in practice, play through injuries that you’re able to prepare for. That’s all part of your game plan.”Behind those three receivers, the Packers have three rookies — Marquez Valdes-Scantling Womens Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , J’Mon Moore and Equanimeous St. Brown. Cornerback Kevin King, who missed the last two games with a groin injury, was full participation all week and was removed from the injury report. The Lions’ former second-round pick is doing all he can to resurrect his career."It’s still pretty early in the offseason and many NFL players are using the opportunity to relax with friends and family. Tabor hasn’t played much at all in his first two years in the NFL despite being drafted in the second round. Regardless, Lions general manager Bob Quinn displayed a lot of faith in him last week when asked at the NFL Combine.“I still have faith in him,” Quinn said. “Obviously he hasn’t played as much as I would have hoped, but we’re not giving up on him. I actually had a conversation with him a couple days ago. He’s a guy we’re counting on to get better.”It’s clear Tabor is committed to getting better, let’s hope that his play on the field reflects that in 2019.(Note: Also very mildly noteworthy are Tabor’s socks.) Chris Burke of The Athletic has 14 things he learned about the Lions after Combine week (subscription required). There’s a lot of interesting nuggets in there. For example: “The chances that at least one of Allen Womens Devon Kennard Jersey , Quinnen Williams or Gary is there at 8 are growing.”Speaking of offseason workouts, it looks like Zach Zenner made some workout buddies at the training facility that made him hella buff in 2018: Pro Football Focus thinks (ESPN Insider required) that upcoming free agent Tyrann Mathieu is a good fit for the Lions. CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals had four interceptions Clayton Fejedelem Jersey , six sacks and a late 18-point lead. They needed all of it — and every last second on the clock as well — to salvage a win that was more relief than anything.Jessie Bates returned Jameis Winston's fourth interception for a touchdown Sunday, and the Bengals overcame Ryan Fitzpatrick's late rally for a 37-34 victory that left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a question at quarterback. The Bengals (5-3) put together their only drive of the second half to pull it out. Andy Dalton had completions of 23 and 9 yards to A.J. Green that got them in range for Randy Bullock's 44-yard field goal on the final play. "A win is a win, but this one feels a little weird," Bengals linebacker Preston Brown said.Weird all around.Cincinnati was coming off a 45-10 loss at Kansas City on Sunday night that was their second-worst drubbing in coach Marvin Lewis' 16 seasons. The Bengals gave up 576 yards to the Bucs (3-4) and managed only 95 yards in the second half — 50 on the final drive."We're not very happy with how we performed," Bates said.Tampa Bay's biggest problem earlier this season was its porous defense, which led to a change of coordinators. This time, their quarterback play was their downfall.Winston opened the season on suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He's had seven turnovers in the past two games, creating an opening for Fitzpatrick to reclaim the job that was his at season's start.Winston was benched after matching his career high with four interceptions, the third time he's thrown so many in his career. He has thrown 10 interceptions, one fewer than all last season."I'm definitely the reason we came up short with this game, and I know that I have to fix it," said Winston, who was 18 of 35 for 276 yards with five sacks.Winston went to the bench, and Fitzpatrick pulled Tampa Bay even.He threw a 72-yard touchdown to Mike Evans , his fifth TD pass of at least 50 yards this season — most in the NFL. He also led an 88-yard drive to the tying score http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-john-ross-jersey , hitting O.J. Howard for an 18-yard touchdown and completing another pass for the conversion with 1:05 left.Fitzpatrick finished 11 of 15 for 194 yards and a passer rating of 154.9 that's just shy of perfect. Now, the Bucs have to decide which one will lead the NFL's top-ranked offense."Today is not the day I need to decide that," coach Dirk Koetter said.DeSean Jackson caught a 60-yard touchdown pass that moved him ahead of Jerry Rice for the NFL record. He has 24 TDs of at least 60 yards. It also was Jackson's 29th career TD of at least 50 yards , tying Randy Moss for second-most since the 1970 merger behind Rice's 36.FAST STARTCincinnati couldn't hold a 27-6 lead set up by a big first half. Joe Mixon ran for 114 yards in the half and scored on runs of 1 and 8 yards. Tyler Boyd had six catches for 112 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown.LOTS OF INTsWinston has thrown at least two interceptions in five straight games, tied for the most since 1990. His 13 interceptions over that span are tied with Fitzpatrick for the most in a five-game stretch over the past five seasons.LOTS OF EMPTY SEATSThe game drew 45,134 fans, the smallest crowd at Paul Brown Stadium since 41,273 showed up for a 23-16 win over Arizona on Dec. 24, 2011.BLOWING IN THE WINDBoth kickers missed extra-point attempts in a gusty, swirling wind.NO SAD SACKBuccaneers end Jason Pierre-Paul had a pair of sacks. He's had at least one in six straight games, tying Simeon Rice for the most consecutive games with a sack in team history.INJURIESBuccaneers: RB Ronald Jones II suffered a hamstring injury in the second half.Bengals: G Clint Boling hurt his back late in the first half. DE Carl Lawson hurt his right knee, reportedly an ACL tear. CB Dre Kirkpatrick left in the third quarter with an Achilles injury that kept him out of practice, but he returned.UP NEXTBuccaneers: Play at Carolina on Sunday, finishing a stretch of four road games out of five.Bengals: Have their bye week Womens Billy Price Jersey , followed by a home game against the Saints.NFL Week 5: Bengals vs Dolphins fantasy football sits and starts Last week, the Bengals were involved in a goldmine game for fantasy football players. If you started a Cincinnati or Atlanta player last week they likely performed well for you. This week, the Dolphins are heading to Cincinnati for a 1:00 p.m. ET matchup at Paul Brown Stadium, and while the prospects aren’t as good as last week, there are still plenty of players you should be starting in Week 5 from the Bengals and Dolphins for fantasy football.Must startsA.J. Green (Bengals WR): Green saved his fantasy last week with a touchdown in the final seconds. He ended up with four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also had another touchdown called back due to a penalty on the offensive line. Simply put, the Bengals are targeting Green in the redzone.Joe Mixon (Bengals RB): The Bengals lead running back returns this week, and Giovani Bernard will be out this week as well. This will be Mixon’s first game back since Week 2, and he is going up against the Dolphins’ defense that has allowed the fourth most points to opposing running backs, according to Fantasy Pros.Favorable matchupsTyler Boyd (Bengals WR): John Ross will be out against the Dolphins, and this may actually have a negative impact on Boyd’s production. Fans don’t notice how often Ross runs off coverage or his mere presence of speed opens up things underneath. The reason Boyd is still considered a favorable matchup? The fact that he will likely absorb most of Tyler Eifert’s targets now that the tight end is lost for the season. Boyd has become Andy Dalton’s only safety blanket, and Dalton has shown a willingness to target Boyd during key situations late in the game as well. Boyd is more of a flex starter this week than a WR2, but he should still be pretty productive in PPR formats.Kenyan Drake (Dolphins RB): Drake has been sharing the backfield with Frank Gore this season, but Drake is the back to play this week. The Bengals struggle covering backs out of the backfield and reaching outside holes to keep quicker backs in check. Drake could easily have a nice game as a flex play this week.Good but not greatBengals defense against the Dolphins: It isn’t an ideal start by any means. However, with the Bears defense on a bye and the Bucs offense also on bye, the pickings could be slim this week if you stream defenses. The Dolphins have major issues on their offensive line Womens Hardy Nickerson Jersey , and they have been known to be pretty generous with turnovers. You shouldn’t expect a game winning performance by them, but they won’t lose you the game at least.Dolphins defense against the Bengals: The Dolphins defense leads the NFL with nine interceptions, and their pass rush is also pretty decent. Again, I’d only pick them up if you’re desperate. They will likely allow the Bengals to score a ton of points, but the interceptions and sacks could keep them from putting up a stinker.Dolphins receivers: Miami doesn’t have one guy who Ryan Tannehill looks to consistently over everyone else. This leads to a pretty general unpredictability about who is worthy of playing. Out of Danny Amendola, Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant all have within 13 to 11 catches on the season. The Bengals secondary has given up some fantasy worthy performances this season though. It is a matter of which one will have it.It feels like Stills and Wilson are the safest starts this week. Wilson is very much a boom or bust play though. He is known to create that long play for a touchdown, but if he fails to do that then he doesn’t do much for you fantasy wise. Stills seems to be more consistent with his stat lines, but again these guys are dependent on getting a touchdown since none of them see a steady stream of targets.Andy Dalton (Bengals QB): Dalton is tied for second in the NFL with 11 touchdowns. The Bengals haven’t been afraid to let Dalton take a few shots at the end zone when they get within range. The problem this week is the Dolphins have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, and they have consistently been able to take the ball away when opposing teams go to the air. It may be worth benching Dalton for a week considering how well the quarterback position has been doing so far this season.Just sit themFrank Gore (Dolphins RB): Despite the Bengals defense seemingly struggling against the run, Gore is not the kind of back they will struggle against. Agile and speed backs is what gives them trouble. The defense will have no trouble converging on Gore, especially with Vontaze Burfict back in the lineup. The only thing that could save Gore is a goal line touchdown.Ryan Tannehill (Dolphins QB): Tannehill has been pretty much a roller coaster ride all season. He has seven touchdowns on the season, but he played a pretty soft schedule leading up to last week when he was shutdown by the Patriots. There are just better options out there this week.

NASHVILLE Colorado Avalanche Hoodies Authentic , Tenn. (AP) Filip Forsberg dropped his broken stick and raced to the bench for another just as the puck slid around the boards near his skates. He grabbed a new stick from the Predators‘ equipment manager, fought off Jets defenseman Ben Chiarot and kept the puck onside. Then he skated toward Connor Hellebuyck, holding off Chiarot as he scored, then slid into the net .The man also known as Scoresberg or Filthy Fil then helped send the Western Conference semifinal back to Nashville for a deciding Game 7 with another highlight-reel worthy goal. Viktor Arvidsson found Forsberg and the Swede slipped the puck through his legs, a movement that prompted Hellebuyck to slide away from the post to cover the empty net to his left.Forsberg immediately flipped the puck through the sliver of an opening, causing a GIF-frenzy on social media. With the postseason that Forsberg is having, Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne can’t settle on the best goal he’s seen from his teammate.”I feel like these two series that already at least three or four really unbelievable goals, and it’s hard to pick,” Rinne said. ”I’m just a fan when I watch him play.”Forsberg led the Predators with 64 points helping Nashville win the franchise’s first Presidents’ Trophy during the regular season. He now is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer in the playoffs with 15 points this postseason, bringing Nashville back for Game 7 on Thursday night against Winnipeg as the Predators seek a second straight berth in the West final. The winner of this series will host the Vegas Golden Knights for the first two games. With Pittsburgh and Boston eliminated, Forsberg now is tied with Washington’s Alex Ovechkin for the most points scored this postseason with 15, and the Predators forward has a plus-4 rating that is a point ahead of Ovechkin with both having played 12 games each.Forsberg looks just comfortable passing the puck through his own legs as those of a defenseman he’s undressing on his way to another goal or even just juggling the puck with his stick to give teammates time to get back onside. The 23-year-old forward from Ostervala, Sweden, said his stick skills are the result of lots of hard work.”Natural is definitely not the word for it, but it just takes a lot of practice Colorado Avalanche Hats Authentic , takes a lot of you doing,” Forsberg said. ”Just try to maybe do it in practice and stuff like that and once in a while you get time and space for it in a game, you try to pull it off.”Some scorers tap into their natural talent, blessed with quick hands and eyes along with soft hands. Others spend hours and hours developing muscle memory. Forsberg counts himself among those who made themselves into scorers. He started as a young child using a shooting ramp his father built for Forsberg and his brother and lots of road hockey.”I think that’s where it all started,” Forsberg said. His skills grew as he led his junior team with 40 points in 2010-11 and helped Sweden win silver at the 2011 World Under-18 Championship. Forsberg was captain when Sweden won both the World Under-18 and World Junior championships in 2012.The Washington Capitals made Forsberg their first-round pick at No. 11 overall in 2012. He never played a game for the Capitals before being traded April 3, 2013, to Nashville in exchange for Martin Erat and Martin Latta. The Predators wasted no time getting Forsberg on the ice, playing him five games that same season. Forsberg spent only 13 games with Nashville in 2013-14, and he has been a fixture in the lineup since 2014-15. They signed him to a six-year, $36 million contract in June 2016.Center Nick Bonino won two Stanley Cups with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in Pittsburgh, and he’s gotten to watch Forsberg up close this season after signing as a free agent.”He’s very skilled,” Bonino said. ”He’s one of the most skilled sticks I’ve ever seen. Practice is fun with him. Games are fun with him.”Forward Colton Sissons sees Forsberg as having a gift that helps him see how best to move the puck instantly to execute in high-pressure moments. Sissons also is pretty sure of what might happen if he tried to mimic some of Forsberg’s scoring moves.”I might break my ankle or something bad might happen,” Sissons said. ”I’d probably just jam it in the near post, but I’ll leave the through the legs stuff to Fil and some of those guys.”— COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Matt Duchene sparked his new team and Sergei Bobrovsky picked up his second shutout in as many nights as the Columbus Blue Jackets stopped the surging San Jose Sharks.Duchene tapped in a loose puck early in the second period to get his first goal for the Blue Jackets and added an assist in his second game with the team Custom Colorado Avalanche Jerseys , and eight other players picked up points in the 4-0 win over the Sharks on Saturday.Bobrovsky — who has refused to sign a contract extension with Columbus and may be traded before Monday’s deadline — had 26 saves in recording a shutout in both ends of a back-to-back for the first time in his career. They started the day in third place in the Metropolitan Division.“Yesterday walking in the room before I got traded and looking at the board and seeing all the names, I said ‘wow, that’s a hell of a team,'” Duchene said. “So hopefully, I can bring another element to that and fit in. So far, so good. Two good ones.”Martin Jones had 19 saves for the Sharks before being replaced by Aaron Dell halfway through the third period after Columbus scored for the fourth time. Dell had three more stops.San Jose lost for only the second time in regulation in its last 11 and is in second place behind Calgary in the Pacific Division.“They were better than us,” San Jose forward Joe Pavelski said. “There wasn’t much else to it. On our side of the puck www.officialbluejackets.com , we didn’t really put two passes together, we didn’t generate much speed.”A charging Jenner collected a great centering pass from Josh Anderson and finished from the slot to get the Blue Jackets on the board nine minutes into the game.Duchene tallied 59 seconds into the second period. Late in the second, with San Jose’s Micheal Haley in the penalty box for interference, Atkinson poked in a puck that got loose behind Jones, snapping a six-game power-play drought for Columbus.Skating hard through the left circle, Dubois stayed a step ahead of defender Marc-Edouard Vlasic and the slid the puck between Jones’ pads to give Columbus a comfortable lead 6:02 into the third, leading to Jones being replaced in the net.“We have a few of those games a year,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said. “I don’t know why. We didn’t execute. They were hungrier, they were more desperate, they deserved to win. We got what we deserved tonight.”After the game, the Blue Jackets announced the acquisition of Duchene’s former Ottawa teammate Ryan Dzingel, who played college hockey for Ohio State.
