RIO DE JANEIRO -- Australian swimmers Josh Palmer and Emma McKeon have been banned from the Olympic closing ceremony by delegation head Kitty Chiller after a night out on Copacabana beach in which Palmer allegedly was forced to withdraw money from an ATM and lost his wallet and phone. The decision comes after the pair failed to return to the Olympic Village without informing team management after a night out in Copacabana. McKeon is said to have spent the night with friends after leaving a nightclub in the early hours of the morning, according to a statement from the Australian Olympic Committee.Palmer, who finished fifth in his 100-meter breaststroke heat on Aug. 6, decided to continue drinking with a friend, and his night took a turn for the worse. The AOC statement reads: Palmer has told officials that after his friend left he was approached by a man who forced him to withdraw AUS $1,000 in cash from a nearby automatic teller machine.Palmer was found later by two businessmen in the Copa district who reported the swimmer was disoriented and had lost his wallet and phone. They phoned the Australian Consulate who then contacted the head of security for the Australian Olympic Team, Greg Nance.Palmer did not make a formal complaint to the police, and he was picked up at the consulate by team leader Wayne Lomas.Chiller calls their decision not to inform team management of their whereabouts disrespectful and has imposed a new 2 a.m. curfew on all Australian athletes for the rest of the Games while McKeon and Palmer are prohibited from leaving the Olympic Village between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.The news comes after the AOC decided to ban athletes from heading onto the sand of Ipanema and Copacabana beaches after nightfall because of the risk of petty crime.Given the security problems we have encountered over the past few weeks, I find the behaviour of the disciplined athletes disrespectful to the remainder of the team, Chiller said. The Canucks have lost five straight games and six of their last seven, leaving them in a logjam in the Pacific Division, currently sitting fifth - good for ninth in the Western Conference. http://www.piratesrookiestore.com/Pirates-Adam-Frazier-Kids-Jersey/ . The Islanders dealt Thomas Vanek to the Montreal Canadiens after less than a year on Long Island. Meanwhile, the Oilers dealt long-time sniper Ales hemsky to the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday for a fifth-round pick in 2014 and a third-rounder in 2015. Felipe Vazquez Jersey . The Masters champion and winner of last weeks Australian PGA has a three-round total of 14-under 199 at Royal Melbourne. "Im in a really good position for tomorrow," Scott said. Jordy Mercer Jersey . Tests earlier this week revealed a Grade 2 left hamstring strain for Sabathia, who was hurt in last Fridays start against San Francisco. Its an injury that will require about eight weeks to heal. He finished a disappointing campaign just 14-13 with a career-worst 4.Warringtons Kurt Gidley is confident that his side are well placed to challenge St Helens in Fridays Super League clash, live on Sky Sports. Reeling from back-to-back defeats at the hands of Wakefield and Castleford in recent weeks, the Wolves struck back with a nine-try demolition of reigning champions Leeds Rhinos on Friday evening, a step in the right direction for Gidley and his team ahead of their trip to Langtree Park to take on fifth placed St Helens. We got four guys back from injury which certainly helps with attacking, defending and confidence as a team, said Gidley. We did some analysis early in the week and then we defended a lot better on Friday night against Leeds than probably the previous two weeks. Former Knights captain Gidley won 12 caps for the Kangaroos before his move to Warrington So theres much more of a spring in our step this week and St Helens actually beat us last time at home, which is something that happened pretty recently, so weve a chance to get them at their home ground this week. The 33-year-old contributed 20 points, a try and eight conversions in the victory over the Rhinos, but despite the strong performance of his team just seven days ago, Gidley is all too aware of the threat of the Saints, Warrington having fallen short against Kieran Cunninghams men in a 222-25 defeat back in April.dddddddddddd.Im not sure if Luke Walsh is playing but their halves last time dominated the game for them added Gidley. Theo Fages and Luke Walsh controlled the game really well last time that we played them and we actually scored more tries but we let in way too many points in the end and they beat us at home. So, I remember from that night we werent quite on defensively and our kicking game was off and the combination of those two things meant that we lost the game in the end. Gidley has quickly settled into his first season of Super League rugby, since his move from the NRL and Newcastle Knights and is keen to continue the positive start made with the Wolves.Ive always watched the Super League since I was a young kid and certainly the test teams against the Kangaroos. My brother played over at St Helens for four years so Ive been watching the Super League for a fair while now and always aspired to come over and challenge myself, he said. This is the right time to do that in my career and Im really enjoying the new challenge. There have certainly been some tough games and Im enjoying my decision to come over and play for Warrington - its been great so far hopefully we can continue to grow as a team and have plenty more good times ahead.
