DENVER -- Two pitchers considered fundamental building blocks for their respective teams will be on the mound Saturday night at Coors Field.Tyler Anderson will be seeking his first career win for the Colorado Rockies and will oppose Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Jerad EickhoffAnderson has pitched well in five career starts, posting a 3.03 ERA but he is 0-3 due to little run support. Colorado has scored a combined four runs when Anderson has been in games and has lost his last four starts.Anderson has done his part, allowing three runs or less in each start and two or less four times. He also has pitched at least six innings three times and made it past the fifth in each start.Eickhoff is one the centerpieces of last years deadline trade that sent Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers. Like Anderson he has a respectable ERA of 3.30 and a losing record at 6-9.Eickhoff has allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts, including Monday against Atlanta when he allowed two runs and five hits in 7 2/3 innings. During his last seven starts, he is 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA (11 earned runs, 39 hits and 44 innings)The 26-year-old, is one of several promising young starters in the Phillies rotation. He follows Vince Velasquez, who gave up eight hits and two runs in six innings Friday night and was the winning pitcher in the Phillies 5-3 victory.Velasquez is 8-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 15 starts with 74 hits allowed in 78 2/3 innings, 26 walks and 93 strikeouts. He was on the disabled list June 10-27 with a biceps strain, time off that manager Pete Mackanin said gave Velasquez, 24, who is in his first full season in the majors, time to regroup mentally as well as let his arm heal.Hes going through a learning process, Mackanin said. Hes got the stuff to be very successful, obviously. Hes not really a polished pitcher, but hes got good enough stuff to have that good of numbers. It gives you an indication of how good he can be in the future.Young arms has been the theme of the series so far for both teams.Jon Gray preceded Anderson Friday and allowed three hits and two runs in 6 2/3 innings. He was charged with two of the runs on pinch hitter Tommy Josephs three-run homer off Jake McGee.Gray is in his first full season in the majors and like Eickhoff and Anderson and Velasquez, he is gaining valuable experience while learning to ply his craft at the highest level and not being unsettled by his surroundings. For Gray, that means adapting to Coors Field, a challenging place to pitch.Ive come to like throwing here, Gray said. Just the way the plate looks, everything else looks, (how) the mound feels. I just have a comfortable feeling now. Im not sure how many starts, but Ive had a few. Im comfortable with it. http://www.eaglesrookiestore.com/Eagles-Brandon-Graham-Jersey/ .7 million, one-year contract, a raise of $2.2 million. BERLIN -- Bayern Munichs rivals have been rebuilding as they attempt to stop the Bavarian powerhouse claiming an unprecedented five straight Bundesliga titles. While the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, and Wolfsburg have made wholesale changes to their squads this offseason, Bayern has been uncharacteristically restrained in the transfer market, with new coach Carlo Ancelotti inheriting a dominant side from Pep Guardiola.Guardiola won the German league in each of his three seasons and Ancelotti will be expected to continue the run. The Italians tenure will also be judged on success in the Champions League, where Guardiola arguably disappointed after failing to match Jupp Heynckes 2013 treble-winning feat. The league returns on Friday with Bayern hosting Werder Bremen in Munich. Heres a closer look at the champion and challengers ahead of the 54th Bundesliga:BAYERNExciting Portugal youngster Renato Sanches and former Dortmund captain Mats Hummels are Bayerns only summer additions. Ancelotti resisted the urge to tinker with the double-winning side he inherited.Hummels return brings Germanys partnership with Jerome Boateng in central defense to club level, while expectations of 19-year-old Sanches have soared following his impressive performances at Euro 2016.Bayern allowed Mario Goetze to return to Dortmund, along with Sebastian Rode, while defenders Medhi Benatia and Serdar Tasci have also departed.Injuries mean Ancelotti is yet to have a full squad at his disposal but the Italian says he has enough talent. The 2-0 win at Dortmund in the German Super Cup, and 5-0 victory at Carl Zeiss Jena in the German Cup is a promising start.DORTMUNDLast years runner-up, Dortmund, has seen Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan. and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all leave, forcing the club to spendd over 100 million euros on a host of eye-catching additions.ddddddddddddWere facing a season of upheaval. Fellow German international Andre Schuerrle and Rode complete the signings from Bundesliga rivals.Dortmund has also shopped abroad, snapping up French attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembele from Rennes, Marc Bartra from Barcelona, fellow defender Raphael Guerreiro of Portugal, and midfielders Emre Mor and Mikel Merino. The club managed to bring nearly all the top European talents to Dortmund in this transfer period, Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp said of his former side.THE RESTBayer Leverkusen seems the likeliest candidate to challenge the top two, led by Javier Chicharito Hernandez, who will miss the start of the season after breaking his hand.Borussia Moenchengladbach has Christoph Kramer back from Leverkusen, Schalke spent a club-record 22.5 million euros on exciting Swiss forward Breel Embolo, Wolfsburg secured Germany forward Mario Gomezs return to the Bundesliga, and Hamburger SVs capture of Croat midfielder Alen Halilovic from Barcelona already looks like an inspired move.Promoted Leipzig, backed by an energy drink company, has ambitions of European qualification in its first Bundesliga season but is sure to receive a hostile reception from opposing fans who resent its fast progress.
